Quote

"I consistently and passionately teach my students to be truth seekers who are excellent, solid thinkers; I come alongside parents to give them encouragement and resources for educating their children."

About Me

I attended Concordia University in Portland, obtaining a Bachelor of Arts in Education in 1996. Directly after college I taught at Portland Christian for several years. "It was a great fit, and I loved my job. I knew from a very young age that I wanted to be a teacher. My grandmother and mother were both teachers. Realizing that dream has been a blessing." After marrying Trent and starting a family, I took a hiatus from formal teaching in order to raise my four children. Once my oldest grew to school age, it was a natural transition to begin homeschooling. For many of those homeschooling years, I taught classes in different locations. "Each year was a true joy for me."

In 2015, I partnered with Kathleen Baker at Hope Learning Center, teaching elementary science, history, and high school English. Eventually I signed on with Academy Northwest© and became a teacher consultant. "I have a passion for teaching students to be excellent, solid thinkers who are grounded in a Christian worldview. I believe my job is to guide students as they pursue their dreams and God-given abilities, all while fostering a lifelong love of learning."

About My Learning Center

At Hope Learning Center we partner with parents to provide a Christ-centered, truth based education to help shape their children into excellent, God honoring men and women. Hope Learning Center can also offer accreditation through Academy Northwest, a WA State Accredited Private School that is specifically for homeschooled high schoolers to be able to continue homeschooling and earn an accredited high school diploma. Academy Northwest is accredited by both ACSI and Cognia.

We currently meet at Bethel Community Church and our classes meet 1-3 times per week. Our class sizes are small and typically have about 6-18 students in them.

Our classes are academically challenging, yet meet students where they are.

In addition to our in person classes, we meet with students and parents for one on one consulting and tutoring.

Testimonies

"I’ve attended Hope Learning Center for 7 years and each one has built upon the fundamentals in ways that are engaging and that stick with you. Ms. B and Mrs. Sagert have been such a blessing as teachers, from their compassion and genuine care for their students to their eagerness to make sure each student gains from the class, it has been an invaluable experience. Hope has the perfect balance of needed school structure to understanding teachers who will work with you to ensure you get the most out of the class throughout any complications. Each year, you have the opportunity to create and grow friendships with both peers and teachers and it is a wonderfully respectful and loving community. The classes will encourage you to do things that may put you out of your comfort zone just enough that you learn and grow while gaining lifelong skills and knowledge. The faith-based teaching has always been not only encouraging, as prayer in the beginning of class starts off the school day right, but also comforting as you know that everything being taught is coming from a solid Christian worldview. I am so thankful that I’ve been able to attend this school and be a part of this community." ~Evie

"When we first started to homeschool, I was completely overwhelmed.  We enrolled our oldest (3rd grade at the time) in an elementary science class at Hope Learning Center right away.  It was amazing and she learned so much!  The staff at HLC has walked alongside us for 8 years of homeschooling now, and I don’t know how we would have made it this far without them. They have encouraged us, given advice, helped with curriculum choices, prayed for our family, and so much more.  All 4 of our kids are currently enrolled in HLC.  We now have 2 in high school, and having them enrolled in HLC through the Academy NW program which has been so wonderful.  Our oversight teacher makes sure they are on track for graduation, and helps us every step of the way. Thanks to Hope Learning Center, our family has been able to successfully homeschool our children.  I highly recommend checking them out!"  ~Jenny
