All Doors Open...

At Academy Northwest, all instruction is Christ-centered and non-denominational.  We are dedicated to supporting families as they train their children in faith, character, and academic excellence.  As a fully accredited, Washington State-approved private school, we offer a distinctive hybrid blend of private school and home education specifically geared toward your family and your student's learning style. By partnering with our school for your child's education, no doors will be closed to your student should circumstances change in their education journey (see testimony at bottom).

Academy Northwest is a Washington State-approved private school that runs an extension program according to RCW 28A.195.010 Section 4.

Extension Program

Academy Northwest supports multiple private school extension programs located across the state of Washington. Certified teachers run these programs and develop services to meet the needs of their local communities. All ANW teachers have the heart to serve their students and provide an education grounded in the Christian faith that will prepare them for post-high school pursuits.

Each learning center is unique and offers a variety of course offerings and schedule options that are flexible with home-based instruction. Many follow the one-on-one tutoring model, while others provide in-person classes for a small group of students. Some offer online options as well.

Five-day School Program

Academy Northwest currently offers one traditional five-day school program in Marysville, Washington. Certified teacher Patti Hlava, who has been with our school for over 30 years, runs this school. The Academy Northwest–Marysville Campus is reminiscent of the one-room schoolhouse where students experience the Christian Charlotte Mason Method of educating the whole child.

Field Studies Program

Field Studies are homeschool field trip opportunities open to all Pacific Northwest home educators. Academy Northwest (ANW) hosts two amazing Field Study trips each year, one in September and the other in May. These three-day trips offer unique, family-oriented educational experiences and are open to students of all ages, regardless of whether or not they are enrolled in ANW.

Consider the following testimony by one ANW parent:

"I am very thankful that we decided to use Academy Northwest once my daughters hit high school age.  Up to that point, I had relied exclusively on the local homeschool co-ops to supplement our curriculum.  We were happy to have additional support with higher level classes, and for our family, the assurance of having an official transcript from an accredited school gave us peace of mind.  This decision proved to be one of the best I ever made for my home-educated girls.

While my older daughter graduated with ANW, my younger daughter had joined the local public high school track team and decided at the end of her junior year that she wanted to get her diploma from that school and walk at their graduation ceremony.  She was firm in her decision even though she didn't want to attend classes there, opting to take all senior year classes through the Running Start program at the local community college instead.

I scheduled a meeting at the high school to see how to go about transferring, and thankfully, our accredited ANW transcript transferred over completely...she did not have to take any additional credits or classes!  I was told that this type of transfer would not have been possible without that accredited transcript.

I know there is debate within the homeschooling community regarding partnering with an accredited extension program.  However, our decision to partner with Academy Northwest did not affect my standards and expectations on curriculums, nor the flexibility and customization I wanted for my girls.  During our home education career, we had the freedom to utilize homeschool co-ops, online classes, Academy Northwest classes, and Running Start classes and get the accredited transcript we wanted.

Academy Northwest made this type of education possible. I am so thankful for the support and encouragement our family received as we made decisions for our girls' education that aligned with our values and plans for their futures."  C.B.
