On Veterans Day, Academy Northwest salutes those who have served and sacrificed for America’s freedom.
Robert D. Stennes is being honored by Cyrus Bradley. Mr. Stennes served during peacetime in the U.S. Army as a SP4 from 1960-1962, and was awarded Driver of the Month twice while stationed in Germany.
Fred Bradley is also being honored by Cyrus Bradley. Mr. Bradley served during the Korean War as a Machinist MM3 from 1950-1954 in the U.S. Navy. Honors include U.S.S. Epping Forest (LSD-4).
(E-4) Sergeant Joel Vizmanos is being honored by Sydney Garcia. Mr. Vizmanos served 6 years during the Vietnam War, and was a jet engine mechanic in the U. S. Airforce. Mr. Vizmanos received the Vietnam Campaign and National Defense Ribbon.
Chief Engineman Goldie Baber is being honored by Sydney Garcia. Mr. Baber, served 25 years in the U.S. Navy and was involved in World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. Mr. Baber served on 6 different submarines and received the following honors: Sailor of the Month 1961, Letter of Commendation October 1962, and First Endorsement September 1965.
Commissaryman First Class Maximo R. Vizmanos is being honored by Sydney Garcia. Mr. Vizmanos served 40 years in the U.S. Navy Food Service and earned the highest rank a Filipino-American was allowed to earn during this time in US History. He served in WWII, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. Mr. Vizmanos received the following honors: Department of Navy Good Conduct Award January 1965, and Commendation For Outstanding Performance August 1966.
Staff Sergeant Chris Garcia is being honored by Sydney Garcia. Mr. Garcia served 3 years in Engineering during the Vietnam War with the U.S. Air Force.
John Elliott E6 is being honored by the Elliott Family. Mr. Elliott served in the U.S. Navy from 1981-1986 and was a Flight Mechanic on the USS Kennedy. He served in Operation Granada.
